The NZ Beauty was developed in the 1970s in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. A natural cross of local varieties Gala and Splendour, the NZ Beauty is a thin-skinned medium-sized apple with a lovely rose-red-pink blush over a classic cream background. Bites clean with a crisp juicy flesh and a sweet rich flavour.
The NZ Beauty matures early for harvest and needs to go to market quickly. It is best consumed as soon as possible after harvest rather than being stored for long periods of time. Getting this variety to the consumer early is the key.
